PADI Advanced Rebreather Diver

Purpose:

For those divers already certified as PADI Rebreather Divers, the Advanced Rebreather course is your next step. You will be certified to dive your rebreather to 100 feet staying within no decompression limits. You will also learn to rig and carry an off-board bailout cylinder to support diving to these new depths.

Prerequisites:

  • PADI Rebreather Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization) prior to certification
  • Be a PADI Enriched Air Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Have a minimum of 30 logged dives.

    Duration:

    The course will require 2 days of diving (including pool and open water sessions), 2 knowledge development sessions, and 1 practical application /equipment configuration session.

    Depth Ranges:

    • Dive 1: 0-20
    • Dive 2: 40-70
    • Dive 3: 50-90
    • Dive 4: 60-100
    • Dive 5: 80-100

    Minimum Time on Unit:

    • 240 Minutes

    Requirements:

    Each diver will be required to have a complete rebreather, including:

    • Diving cylinders
    • 1 bail out tank with regulator, SPG, & staging kit
    • BC, back plate & harness
    • Exposure protection (dry suit use requires prior dry suit diving experience)
    • Weight system (if needed)
    • Lights as necessary, including primary and backup
    • Jon line (for current diving environments)
    • Safety reel
    • Compass
    • Z-knife and back-up cutting device
    • Spare clips, pull-ties, tank wrap bands & other rigging accessories
    • Back-up mask (optional)
    • DSMB (Delayed Surface Marker Buoy

    ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT CONSIDERATIONS

    Poseidon MKVI Rebreather rental available for $100 per day

    Equipment provided by SLC Scuba::

    • Oxygen analyzer
    • Emergency Oxygen & first aid kit
    • Forms & support materials

    Divers will read the appropriate section of their Rebreather & Advanced Rebreather Manual and answer the Knowledge Reviews prior to the practical application portion. A score of at least 80% is required on all exams.
